Disclaimer: By setting up a Video Call, clients and freelancers can speak directly with each other. This is a great way to align expectations. Currently, only freelancers can initiate Zoom video calls.

Using video calls

We recommend that you contact your client/freelancer before creating a meeting, in order to confirm video call availability. Remember to take time zone differences into account.

To start a Zoom Video Call:

  1. Go to your Inbox from the Orders page.
  2. Ask your freelancer to start a video call from their side.
  3. The freelancer will see the video camera icon at the bottom of the chatbox. Click the video icon to start the chat.
  4. The Zoom Video Call invitation will appear in your messages. Click Join to join the Video Call.

Please note: Zoom recordings will be saved for 180 days.

Meeting Safety: Tips

Important: Both parties can report a video meeting.

If you attended a meeting and the client/freelancer acted unprofessionally regarding the order (by asking for personal or payment details, etc.), report it to Customer Support.

  • Don’t share any sensitive personal information
For example: passwords, credit card information, SSN, national identification card number, or any other private information.

  • Don’t click on any links or attachments that you may receive unless the context is absolutely clear
We recommend that you always use an antivirus on your own device as extra security.

  • Avoid remote access tools
Refrain from using tools such as TeamViewer and AnyDesk that allow a second party to potentially take control of your computer.
If you do need to use such a tool, make sure
not to permit any operations. These may cause damage to your computer if accessed by another party.

  • Don’t engage in any type of online conversation that makes you feel uncomfortable
Remember, have the option to report your video call to Customer Support.

  5.  Can my colleagues join in on the call? And can I share the same link with another freelancer and allow them to join?
Yes, you can share the link from the Zoom call, and invite others to join.
