What are legal documents?

Legal documents are essential tools for businesses and individuals to establish clear, enforceable agreements. They safeguard mutual interests by defining terms, protecting rights, and reducing risks.

How it works for clients

Note: Freelancers will be required to electronically sign all legal documents using DocuSign, a trusted third-party platform.

1. First-time clients will need to go to the freelancer's profile or inbox, click on the "Ensure this freelancer is compliant with your business" banner, and then select 'Legal documents.'
   For clients who have used any of our compliance services previously, click on ‘Legal documents’ located on your freelancer profile, or your inbox.

2. Upload your legal documents to the 'Legal documents' section within 'Administration.' 

   a. Drag and drop or choose a file from your device. The max size of each file is 5MB.
   Tip: Naming each document will help the members identify which document to send to which freelancer.

   b. Only the admin of the account can upload the document so that other members can send them to freelancers. Admins can preview or remove any document from this page. 
   Tip: Before hiring, discuss with the freelancer the document signing process, including where and how they will be required to sign.

3. Go to the freelancer's profile or inbox and click “Send” next to 'Legal documents.'
4. Select the document(s) you wish to send to the freelancer.

5. Make a payment. Whether a payment is required depends on your subscription plan. Check your Fiverr Pro subscription plan for more information.

   a. If the Fiverr balance is less than the total amount, you will be charged for the difference.

   b. The service is not able to be paid with Fiverr credits. The client will need to pay with one of the available payment method options or from their balance from deposits. Promo codes are also not able to be used when paying for a service.

6. Await freelancer signature.
7. View signed documents by selecting “Open document” from the menu. A new tab will open, allowing you to download them.
8. Resending a document: Sent documents can be resent free of charge. Expired documents can be resent too, but require another payment. The resent document replaces the previous one.
   Note: Signed documents cannot be resent or changed.

Legal document statuses

• The document was sent to the freelancer.
• The freelancer received the document and signed.
• If the document was sent but not signed by the freelancer within 1 month, the DocuSign URL will expire and you will be refunded.

Refunds

If your freelancer does not sign the document within 30 days, that document will expire and you will be refunded automatically. For clients who haven't had their documents signed by the freelancer (whether the document is still in status “sent” or has expired):

• You will receive a full refund.
• • You can resend documents without limitations.
  • No refunds are provided for Advanced tier users.
• Signed documents cannot be removed or refunded.
